Rims

Full carbon new generation rims. Hand built and finished by a new working process of laying up a ultra-light weight carbon rim.
A unique Ultra Smooth Carbon Fiber Molding with extremely reduced resin.
No Painting Carbon Rim – extra strong 3K Twill Carbon with more homogeneous resin filling.
No stickers high resistant water transfer graphics shows a long lasting and beautiful appearance. Handmade - under strict and very slow working process.

Patented HI-TG Resin System

High TG 240°C Brake Surface Getting into a 90% of carbon fiber capability and giving a stable, safty and durable rim. Patented resin fomula, same to leading brands Actual Resin decomposing temp: 270°C

Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis

DMA Testing: Resin Heat Resistance
Resin Glass Transition Point & Melting Point
Result: Glass Transition Temperature rating is 240.13 ºC

TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis)

TGA Testing: Maximum resin heat resistance temperature
Resin changing process with the rising temperature
Result: Temperature reaches 270 ºC resin started to be decomposed slightly


DPL Brake Surface, Diamond Polishing Treatment.

We are using advanced machinery & Diamond Polishing Treatment (DPL) for brake surface, allows the brake pad to work directly on 3K woven carbon fibers.
This new process eliminates "run-in" periods, improves braking performance in wet and dry weather conditions, and creates much better braking performance. The max. temperature we have tested is 270º

TLR Tubeless Ready

We’re using most common rim bed design
Its advantage are excellent rolling resistance, fewer punctures and easy mounting tire.

Experience & Process

Our professional technicians building each wheel by hand. With the most strict working process, all our wheels are totally hand built from the first spoke to the final true, covering 15 working processes and multiple times of mechanical stress relief to ensure each wheel is produced under precise artwork. We’re doing hand built wheels since 1984.

Braking Test

Test condition: Air pressure 120psi, load 100kgf, brake force 15kg, braking for 80S, release for 10S, speed keep in 12.5km/h. Braking test 10 times as one cycles, running two cycles finish the test.
Test Standard: Rims are the same as original and deformation ≤0.3mm.
Test Result: After two cycles, rim without damage, and deformation ≤0.3mm

Rim Stiffness & Strength Testing

Test Condition: Apply 200kgf force, speed 25.4mm⁄min, test one time.
Test Area: Valve position external hole
Test Standard: Rims without any damage.
Test Result: Apply 200kgf force, test one time, without any damage. Apply 590kgf, test one time, with 0.3mm damage.

Spokes tension test

Test Condition: Apply 300kgf, speed 10.00mm⁄min, test one time.
Test Standard: Rims without any damage.
Test Result: Apply 305kgf, 310kgf, 300kgf, and 300kgf for four spoke holes without any damage

Riding Fatigue test

Test condition: First cycle air pressure 110psi, load 80kgf, speed 40km/h, keep riding 200km.
Second cycle air pressure 110psi, load 80kgf, speed 65km/h, keep riding 200km
Test Standard: Rims without any damage.
Test Result: Test according to the test condition, rim without any damage





AIR+PLUS High speed technology

In 2017 we lunch an optimized rim and hub design with improved aerodynamic efficiency and less drag. Lateral wind is no longer a problem anymore thanks to the new 28mm wide U-shaped carbon rim. This design allows the use of wider tires without negatively influence on the wind flow, more tire volume, lower rolling resistance and better handling in crosswinds condition.

The AIR+PLUS is today successfully worldwide race proven and tagged with gold medals and many podiums.

We only use the best carbon fiber

From material purchasing, producing, testing, packaging to shipping,
PROGRESS has perfect manage system which makes sure every customer receive high quality items.


We not use UD carbon for the rims

We actually use multiple layers of different types of carbon.
Only the outer layer is made from a UDF (Uni-Directional Fiber).
A mixture of different angles to resemble a uniform material. Because carbon fiber can handle tension very well, we have to mix up the layers to make the rim stiff and strong enough.
Pressure is not a great feature of a fiber. Just think of a string being pushed. But when mixed correctly, the different angles interconnect through the resin to make it resistant to all kinds of forces .


Why PROGRESS wheels aren´t the lightest on the markets?

Durability is one of the goals set by PROGRESS from the get-go.
Therefore we demand more of our rims than we would if we had lower spoke tensions in our wheels or if we had weight limits for our wheels. For instance, our rims have reinforced strips where the spoke holes are placed, to ensure that high tensions are not an issue.
In a regular rim, you can't control the specific stresses by layup only. The spoke force is concentrated around the nipple hole. With a pre-defined reinforcement strip [3], we can put the right fibers at the right place. The spoke force is spread out through the reinforced strip and distributes the stresses over a larger part of the rim.
The rims are now capable of withstanding a spoke force of 300kgf. This force is around the same as the ultimate strength of the spoke itself. And we only use the best and the lightest spokes available on the market today, so you can imagine how durable the wheels are when the rims are laced up by professional wheel builders.
